Senior Project Manager

Primary purpose:
•Work as a Terminals Asset Group Civil Engineer contributor to support the efforts of standardized design, construction, maintenance and repair of company assets. Provide leadership including project planning, scheduling, leading and coordinating project teams of subject matter experts.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Effectively plan, schedule, and manage multiple document development projects.
•Provide technical support to operations as needed.
•Review and perform civil engineering analysis.
•Perform facility and specific asset evaluations as required.
•Create and write technical documents.
•Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
Position Requirements: Minimum requirements:
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Civil) or equivalent alternative experience.
•Training in project management techniques including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control systems, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting is a plus.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:
•Minimum of 15 years’ experience in engineering and project management involving the design, construction, and operation of facilities associated with liquid pipelines, truck loading terminals, bulk handling terminals, waterfront terminals and related pump, storage, and metering facilities.
•Must have full compliment of project management skills including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting.
•Working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA, and various state counterparts.
•Familiarity with NEC, ASME, API, and ASTM specifications, standards, and recommended practices

Certification, licenses, registrations:
•A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current, valid State driver’s license are required.
•If the employee is subject to license or certification requirements or training as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies or the Company, now or in the future, compliance is required under this job description.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:
•Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
•Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
•Must be accountable and take direction from Managers; keep required work schedules, which include regular and predictable job attendance; focus attention on details; follow work rules.
•Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.
•Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.
•Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction.
•Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Physical demands:
•Exposure to smells and fumes ,dust and environmental conditions encountered with bulk and liquid storage handling facilities
•Position may require prolonged periods of sitting in order to accomplish administrative duties (reading/reviewing documents, writing, typing and/or operating a computer, using the telephones, etc.) Occasional periods of bending, squatting, lifting, or climbing are required and would more often be associated with activities taking place outside the office.
•Field activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around, in and on heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain, areas of loose rock and working in confined spaces.

Working Conditions:
•Availability to travel throughout the US and Canada, and other locations as required in performing job duties. Up to 50% or more travel required.
•Must be willing and able to carry a cell phone and to respond when called.
•The majority of the typical work day is spent in an office environment, though this may change, depending upon the location assignment. For work performed out of doors, weather conditions vary and can be extreme, depending upon location assignment and may include severe seasonal changes which are primarily influenced by geographic location.
•Overtime required and extended work hours in cases of emergencies.
•May be required to work alone (unsupervised).

Supervisory responsibility:

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirement; not required but advantageous in this position:
•Experience working around marine docks
•Prior experience requiring mechanical aptitude and skill.
•Basic knowledge of cathodic protection
•Experience with storage tank operations and containment design and management
•Experience with light maintenance (mechanical, electric, electronic)
