Invitation to Discuss Gen Ed Revisions

Faculty are cordially invited to a series of lunch meetings to discuss the revised General Education curriculum model. In order to create a rich cross-disciplinary mix for collaboration and conversation, we have paired faculty in groups, by distribution areas and schools. For the first discussion, we would like to gather faculty from Areas 2 and 4 as well as the Schools of Education and Nursing. And although we will invite specific groups for each meeting, all are welcome at any of the three scheduled gatherings at 11:00 am – 12:30 pm on March 18, 25, and April 1.

During these meetings, we invite your responses to specific aspects of the model: first on the revised Gen Ed Outcomes and secondly, on the curricular model itself. The new structure adds no courses; instead, it re-labels categories and re-conceptualizes the curriculum in order to reflect changes made to the General Education mission and outcomes (2008, 2010) and recommendations made by faculty over the last two years, by survey and at the faculty retreat.

March 18: Areas 2 and 4 and Schools of Education and Nursing (11-12:30 pm – Marts 214) .

March 25: Areas 1 and 3 and Schools of Business and Pharmacy (11-12:30 pm – Marts 214) .

April 1: Interested faculty, staff, and administrators (11-12:30pm – Breiseth 320).
