Harris County Department of Education Technology Chief Information Officer Jim Schul and videographer Joe Perez were awarded service awards by the Texas Distance Learning Association at the Texas Distance Learning Association 2014 Conference.

Schul, a La Porte resident, earned an award for “outstanding board services as chief information officer.” Perez, a Friendswood resident, was awarded the “outstanding individual commitment to service” award. The awards were given at the association’s state conference in Corpus Christi April 4.

Association awards are given to members who go above and beyond in their dedication and commitment to distance education. Awards are classified within three levels: individual, institutional and corporation

As a nonprofit state chapter of the United States Distance Learning Association, the Texas chapter’s goal is to bridge the boundaries between the diverse range of professionals interested in the field of distance learning.
